FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions

1.) WHY ARE WE DIFFERENT?
Each nanny sent through Seaside Nannies is fingerprinted through Livescan and references checked BEFORE they are allowed to enter into any of our clients homes for an interview! We are the only San Diego Nanny agency that requires this of all our candidates.

Seaside Nannies properly assesses each and every household before nannies go over for an interview. We have NO online forms and we do not just talk to our clients on the phone. WE MEET EVERY CLIENT IN THEIR HOMES!! As a nanny you can be assured that safety is important for you as well as for our clients!

2.) HOW DOES IT WORK?
Please refer to Parents Page.

3.) WHAT ARE YOUR REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR NANNIES?

4.) WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR NANNIES?
Our Awesome Nannies come to us in many facets. Some by word of mouth, others are found through our advertising, and some find us on their own merits.

5.) HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Please refer to Seaside Nannies Rates.

6.) WHAT KIND OF BACKGROUND CHECK DO YOU DO ON YOUR NANNIES?
Before a Seaside Nanny receives any client information, they are fingerprinted through the State of California through a live scan in which will be registered with an “ATI number” processed through the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). The fingerprints are then submitted to California’s Department of Social Services Trustline Registry.

Once a nanny has been offered a position, Seaside Nannies will run a secondary check on the nanny’s social security number, giving us access to all of her past addresses and every county she has lived in. We run every county record associated with the nanny’s social security number and make sure she has no Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) on her driving record, or any criminal activity.

7.) WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A NANNY AND A BABYSITTER?
Nannies are professional in home caregivers, also known as child educators, and are often an alternative to daycare facilities. Having a nanny provides your child with individual and experienced attention, and a safe, secure, stimulated environment. The responsibilities of the nanny relate to the child’s needs and over all development. Typical duties will include but are not limited to, getting the children dressed, preparing meals, cleaning up after children, organizing, structuring, and participating in activities, as well as driving. Some families will require some light errand running, light housekeeping and the children’s laundry.

Baby Sitters are also professional in-home caregivers, however they are hired on a short-term or as-needed basis. Their primary responsibility is to care for the child, providing a safe, secure and nurturing environment. Unlike a nanny, however, the babysitter’s responsibilities do not extend to other household related duties. Certain responsibilities can be negotiated with a babysitter, although are not part of their job.
